How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Start Your Career in Education - Graduate School Support Roles

Bury & Surrounding Areas | Tradewind Recruitment

Have you recently completed a degree in Education Studies or a related subject? Looking for an opportunity to gain real-world experience in a school before deciding on your next career move?

Tradewind Recruitment is working with primary schools throughout the Bury area to recruit graduates for a range of Teaching Assistant positions. This is an opportunity to step into an educational environment, work alongside experienced school staff and help children develop their skills, confidence and enthusiasm for learning.

Whether you have your sights set on becoming a teacher or want to explore other careers involving children's education and development, these roles can help you build a strong foundation.

Schools hiring across the local area

We are looking for candidates interested in working in primary schools throughout Bury, Ramsbottom, Prestwich, Radcliffe, Whitefield, Tottington and nearby communities.

There are opportunities in mainstream classrooms as well as roles supporting pupils who need additional help throughout the school day.

Explore a range of school-based positions

Every school has different requirements, so the duties will vary depending on the placement. Current opportunities may include:

Classroom Assistant: Help teachers deliver activities, encourage participation and keep pupils engaged with their learning.

Individual Pupil Support: Provide focused assistance to a child who needs extra guidance with learning, communication or everyday school routines.

Additional Learning Needs: Support pupils with SEND and help them access classroom activities in a way that works for them.

Emotional and Behavioural Support: Encourage positive behaviour, help children navigate challenges and promote a supportive learning environment.

Small-Group Learning: Assist with targeted activities designed to reinforce classroom learning and build pupils' confidence.

Most positions run Monday to Friday on a full-time basis, usually from 8:30am until 3:30pm.

Build experience that supports your future ambitions

A graduate role in a primary school can be a useful way to turn your academic knowledge into practical skills. You'll have the chance to observe teaching approaches, understand classroom dynamics and learn how school staff adapt their support to meet different needs.

This experience may be particularly relevant if you are considering:

Applying for a PGCE or another initial teacher training route.

Developing a career in primary teaching.

Exploring educational support, child development or related professions.

Gaining experience with pupils who have additional learning or behavioural needs.

Some of the trusts we partner with run their own School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programmes. For suitable candidates, these may provide a potential route into further training and a career as a qualified teacher, subject to the programme's entry criteria.

    Could this opportunity suit you?

We would like to hear from graduates with a background in Education Studies, Childhood Studies or a similar discipline who are keen to work with primary-aged children.

Previous experience in a school, nursery, tutoring role, youth setting or volunteering position would be beneficial. Experience supporting children with additional needs is also an advantage.

You should be approachable, patient and willing to learn, with a genuine interest in helping pupils overcome challenges and make progress.

Take your first step with Tradewind Recruitment

If you're ready to gain hands-on experience and discover what working in education is really like, we can help you explore suitable opportunities across the Bury area.

Get in touch with Tradewind Recruitment to discuss graduate Teaching Assistant roles and find out which school opportunities may be right for you.
