How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: £29,000 – £30,000 per annum
Location: Birmingham, with outreach across Hodge Hill, Sutton Coldfield, Yardley and surrounding areas

Build Employer Partnerships and Create Opportunities for People to Succeed

Do you have experience working with DWP-funded employment contracts and engaging employers to create job opportunities? Are you confident building business relationships, identifying vacancies and helping people move into sustainable employment?

This is an opportunity to bring your DWP contract delivery and employer engagement experience to Connect to Work, helping connect young adults with local employers and meaningful employment opportunities.

    About the Organisation

The organisation delivers employment support designed to help people overcome barriers to work, improve their employability and achieve sustainable employment outcomes.

Through the government-funded Connect to Work programme, it supports economically inactive and unemployed people aged 18-25 across targeted areas of East Birmingham.

    About the Role

As an Employer Engagement Advisor, you will develop relationships with local businesses and employers to identify vacancies, promote the benefits of working with the programme and create suitable opportunities for participants.

You will work closely with employment support colleagues to match participants to vacancies, support recruitment activity and contribute to programme performance and employment outcomes.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Building and maintaining relationships with employers across the local labour market.

    * Identifying vacancies and developing opportunities for participants to enter employment.

    * Promoting the programme to employers and explaining the support available to businesses and candidates.

    * Matching participant skills, experience and aspirations to suitable job opportunities.

    * Working collaboratively with employment advisors to support job applications, interviews and job starts.

    * Maintaining accurate employer records and monitoring vacancy and placement activity.

    * Working towards programme objectives and meeting relevant contract, reporting and quality requirements.

    Ideal Candidate

You will have experience in employer engagement, business development or employer-facing roles within DWP-funded employment contracts or the wider employability sector.

    You will also bring:

    * Experience working with DWP contracts or government-funded employment programmes.

    * A strong understanding of employer engagement and local labour market opportunities.

    * The ability to build productive relationships with employers and develop new business opportunities.

    * Experience identifying vacancies and matching candidates to employer requirements.

    * Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-management skills.

    * Good organisational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage competing priorities.

    * A results-focused approach and an understanding of the importance of employment outcomes and contract performance.

Experience working alongside caseload-based employment support teams would be advantageous.

    Why Apply?

    * Salary: £29,000–£30,000 per annum.

    * Use your expertise: Apply your employer engagement and DWP contract experience in a new programme.

    * Create opportunities: Help local employers find suitable candidates while supporting participants into work.

    * Build partnerships: Develop relationships across businesses and the local labour market.

    * Make an impact: Contribute to sustainable employment outcomes for young adults.
