How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Employment Advisor – Connect to Work

    Salary: £29,000–£30,000 per annum

    Location: Birmingham, West Midlands

Are you experienced in learner recruitment, employment support or employer engagement? Do you have a background in ASF-funded training, government-funded employability programmes or DWP contract delivery?

We are recruiting six candidates to support the delivery of the Connect to Work programme in Birmingham. We are particularly interested in people with experience in learner recruitment, caseload management or employer engagement who can help individuals overcome barriers to employment and achieve sustainable work.

Whether your background is in Adult Skills Fund (ASF) learner recruitment, WHP, IPS, Restart or DWP contract delivery, this is an opportunity to use your experience to make a meaningful difference.

    About the Organisation

The organisation delivers employment support designed to help people overcome barriers to work, improve their employability and achieve sustainable employment outcomes.

Through the government-funded Connect to Work programme, it supports economically inactive and unemployed people aged 18–25 in targeted areas of East Birmingham, helping participants access employment opportunities and receive support to remain in work.

    About the Role

As an Employment Advisor – Connect to Work, you will contribute to the delivery of employment support by engaging participants, supporting their progression into work and working with employers and referral partners.

The precise focus of your responsibilities will depend on your experience. We welcome candidates with strengths in one or more of the following areas:

    Learner Recruitment and Participant Engagement

    *

Attracting and engaging participants through referrals, outreach and community partnerships.

    *

Explaining programme opportunities and encouraging suitable individuals to access support.

    *

Building relationships with referral partners and maintaining accurate recruitment records.

    Caseload Management and Employment Support

    *

Managing a caseload and developing personalised action plans.

    *

Identifying barriers to employment and supporting participants with CVs, applications, interviews and job-search activity.

    *

Monitoring progress and providing in-work support to help participants sustain employment.

    DWP Contracts and Employer Engagement

    *

Building relationships with local employers and identifying suitable vacancies.

    *

Matching participants to job opportunities and supporting recruitment activity.

    *

Maintaining employer records and contributing to programme reporting, quality and employment outcome requirements.

    Ideal Candidate

We are interested in candidates with relevant experience in one or more of the following areas:

    *

ASF learner recruitment: Experience recruiting learners onto Adult Skills Fund or other funded training programmes.

    *

Caseload management: Experience delivering employment support through WHP, IPS, Restart or similar employability programmes.

    *

DWP contracts and employer engagement: Experience working on DWP-funded contracts, developing employer relationships and generating job opportunities.

Across these profiles, you will bring strong communication and relationship-building skills, good organisational ability and a proactive approach to helping people progress into employment.

You should be comfortable working towards programme objectives, maintaining accurate records and collaborating with colleagues and external stakeholders. Experience supporting people facing barriers to employment would be advantageous.

    Why Apply?

    *

    Salary: £29,000–£30,000 per annum.

    *

Make a difference: Help people access opportunities and move towards sustainable employment.

    *

Use your experience: Apply your recruitment, employment support or employer engagement skills within Connect to Work.

    *

Work collaboratively: Build relationships with participants, employers and community partners.

    *

Develop your career: Gain experience within a government-funded employment programme.
