How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HSE Manager – Construction
    Salary: £45,000–£55,000 + Car Allowance + On-site Bonus
    Location: UK-based | National Travel Required
    Employment Type: Permanent
    Working Pattern: Project site based, typically assigned to one primary project at a time.
    The Opportunity
    D7 Recruitment is working with an established Health & Safety consultancy to recruit two permanent HSE Managers to support construction projects across the UK.
    This is an opportunity for experienced construction safety professionals who enjoy taking ownership of HSE delivery, building strong relationships with project teams and making a practical difference to health and safety performance on site.
    You will typically be assigned to one primary project at a time, allowing you to develop a thorough understanding of the project, build effective working relationships and take responsibility for day-to-day HSE management.
    Assignments vary in duration and scope, offering a balance of project continuity and exposure to different clients, working environments and operational challenges.
    The Role
    As an HSE Manager, you will take responsibility for supporting and maintaining high standards of health and safety across live construction projects.
    Working closely with clients, contractors and project teams, your responsibilities will include:
    * Overseeing site health and safety compliance, inspections and audits.
    * Supporting compliance with relevant legislation, including CDM Regulations 2015 and Principal Contractor requirements.
    * Preparing, reviewing and maintaining Construction Phase Plans, risk assessments, emergency procedures and associated HSE documentation.
    * Coordinating contractor activities, permits to work and site safety meetings.
    * Reviewing safe systems of work and supporting effective management of site risks.
    * Investigating incidents, identifying improvements and supporting corrective actions.
    * Providing practical HSE advice, challenging unsafe practices and promoting a positive safety culture.
    * Building effective working relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
    * Supporting other projects and wider consultancy activities when required.
    What We're Looking For
    We are particularly interested in candidates who have:
    * Experience in an HSE Manager or senior Health & Safety role within construction.
    * A NEBOSH General Certificate.
    * A sound working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015.
    * Experience working with contractors, risk assessments, method statements and live construction activities.
    * Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
    * A practical, proactive approach to managing health and safety.
    * The flexibility to travel nationally and stay away from home when projects require it.
    Desirable qualifications and experience:
    * NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
    * SMSTS.
    * First Aid training.
    * Previous experience within a Health & Safety consultancy.
    Location & Travel
    These are nationally focused consultancy positions rather than roles based at one permanent site.
    We are particularly interested in candidates across the North West and Yorkshire, including Greater Manchester, Warrington, Stockport, Leeds, Wakefield and surrounding areas.
    However, candidates based elsewhere in the UK with good access to the M62, M1, A1(M) or M6 motorway networks are also encouraged to apply.
    Project locations will vary across the UK, with national travel and overnight stays required depending on individual assignments.
    Why Consider This Opportunity?
    * Permanent employment with an established Health & Safety consultancy.
    * £45,000–£55,000 salary, depending on experience.
    * Car allowance and on-site bonus.
    * The opportunity to take ownership of HSE delivery on individual projects.
    * A varied portfolio of construction assignments and client environments.
    * The opportunity to develop professional experience and long-term client relationships.
    Interested?
    If you're an experienced construction HSE professional looking for a permanent role offering project responsibility, variety and the opportunity to work with different clients, we'd welcome a conversation.
