How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Field Service Engineer to join a rapidly expanding power generation business specialising in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems, following continued growth and internal progression within the engineering team.

The successful CHP Service Engineer will have previous experience working on MAN, MWM or similar equipment and will have a good mechanical and electrical understanding.

    Key Responsibilities:

Carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs on CHP engines and associated equipment, mainly MAN and MWM.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults across a range of gas engine installations.
Attend breakdowns and provide technical support to customers across your allocated region.
Use laptop-based diagnostic software to connect to engine control systems, investigate faults and support troubleshooting.
Undertake component replacements, engine repairs and major overhauls as required.
Support the reliable and efficient operation of installed CHP equipment across a varied customer base.
Complete service reports, maintenance records and associated technical documentation.
Work independently in the field, managing your workload and prioritising customer requirements.

    Requirements:

Experience servicing, maintaining or repairing CHP equipment and gas engines, ideally with experience working on MAN and MWM engines.
Strong mechanical engineering and fault-finding capabilities.
Experience working with large industrial engines or engine-driven power generation equipment.
Familiarity with engine diagnostics and computer-based fault-finding tools.
Gas Safe certification would be advantageous but is not essential.

    The Package:

    Salary - circa £46,000
