How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This independent consultancy currently employs around 25 professionals and is looking to expand its team, client base and presence across the UK.

Develop fire strategies for a variety of building types.

Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers.

Work towards taking on greater leadership and management responsibilities.

    The Lead Fire Engineer

Degree qualified in Fire Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.

Strong experience within a UK fire engineering consultancy.

Excellent knowledge of UK Building Regulations, BS 9999 and relevant fire safety guidance.

Experience producing and reviewing complex fire strategies.

Confident managing projects and communicating directly with clients.

Ambitious, commercially aware and keen to progress into a senior leadership position.

Chartered status (CEng) or working towards chartership would be advantageous.

    In Return?

Highly competitive salary, reflective of experience.

Fully remote working with flexibility and autonomy.

Clear progression to Principal Fire Engineer / Management within 12-18 months.

Opportunity to help shape and grow an ambitious consultancy.

Direct access to senior leadership and key business decisions.

A supportive, close-knit team with an entrepreneurial approach.

Long-term career development and genuine leadership opportunities.

If you're an experienced Lead Fire Engineer looking for greater responsibility, career progression and the chance to make a real impact within a growing consultancy, this could be the ideal next step
