How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Purchasing & Production Coordinator

    About the Opportunity

Interaction Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a specialist metalwork and fabrication business based in Baldock, Hertfordshire.

The business specialises in architectural metalwork, precision sheet metalwork and fabricated products for commercial projects. It is seeking an organised, proactive and detail-focused Purchasing & Production Coordinator to support its purchasing and production operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator or coordinator with a background in purchasing, manufacturing or production support to take ownership of key administrative and coordination activities within a busy manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring that customer quotations and works orders are processed accurately, materials are ordered on time, and supplier deliveries are coordinated to keep production running smoothly.

Working closely with production, purchasing, estimating and management, the successful candidate will maintain accurate job information, monitor outstanding orders, liaise with suppliers and help identify potential issues before they affect production schedules.

The role will involve using an MIE Trak ERP/MRP manufacturing system. Experience with MIE Trak would be advantageous, although training can be provided.

    Key Responsibilities

Use and maintain accurate information within the MIE Trak ERP/MRP manufacturing system.
Enter and process customer quotations and load works orders for production.
Ensure job information is accurate, complete and kept up to date.
Raise and manage purchase orders for materials, components and subcontracted services.
Coordinate the ordering of materials required for current and upcoming production jobs.
Monitor outstanding purchase orders and track supplier deliveries.
Liaise with suppliers to confirm delivery dates and chase outstanding orders where necessary.
Identify potential material shortages and delivery delays that could affect production schedules.
Check supplier order confirmations against purchase orders.
Update purchase orders when quantities, prices or delivery dates change.
Coordinate with production, purchasing, estimating and management to ensure materials and job information are available when required.
Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier and production records.
Monitor job requirements and follow up outstanding actions to support production deadlines.
Provide general administrative support to the wider office and production team when required.

    About the Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will be highly organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a busy manufacturing environment.

    They will ideally have:

Previous experience in purchasing, production coordination, manufacturing administration or a similar role.
Good IT skills and confidence using computerised systems.
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
    Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Confidence communicating with suppliers, colleagues and other stakeholders.
The ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing deadlines.
A proactive and practical approach to problem-solving.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team.
Experience using MIE Trak or another ERP/MRP manufacturing system would be beneficial.

Previous experience within metal fabrication, sheet metalwork, engineering or manufacturing would also be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be someone who takes ownership of their responsibilities, communicates effectively and helps ensure that purchasing and production activities remain organised and efficient.

    What Is on Offer?

    Competitive salary depending on experience.
    Full-time, permanent employment.
A varied and responsible role within a specialist metalwork and fabrication business.
Training on manufacturing systems and internal processes.
Opportunities to develop skills across purchasing, production coordination and materials planning.
    Company pension.
    On-site parking.
The opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the efficiency and success of a growing manufacturing operation.

    Working Hours

    Monday to Friday.

Full working hours to be confirmed.
