I’m working with a growing London main contractor who are looking to appoint a Design Manager for a technically challenging residential development in Tulse Hill.
The initial project is a £16m new-build scheme comprising 45 apartments across multiple blocks, incorporating an RC frame and basement construction.
The development is classified as a higher-risk building and is progressing under transitional arrangements. Although it did not pass through the current Gateway 2 process, the incoming Design Manager will play an important role in preparing the project for Gateway 3, completion and handover.
The Role
Managing design coordination across the Tulse Hill development
Coordinating architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants and specialist subcontractors
Reviewing information for compliance, buildability, coordination and programme risk
Managing RFIs, technical submissions, design changes and drawing approvals
Maintaining design trackers, responsibility matrices and information-release schedules
Coordinating interfaces across the RC frame, basement, façade, internal and MEP packages
Supporting the collation of information required for Gateway 3
Maintaining accurate design, compliance and handover documentation
Supporting procurement and subcontractor design development
Assisting with practical completion, commissioning, handover and project close-out
Providing design support to an additional residential scheme in Purley when required
