How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive mechanical estimates, working closely with pre-construction, commercial, design and project teams to develop robust tender submissions.

    About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to support the preparation of mechanical tenders across a varied portfolio of projects.

The role will provide exposure to complex mechanical systems, major clients and specialist supply chains, with the successful candidate playing an important role in securing new projects and supporting the business's continued growth.

    Responsibilities for the Mechanical Estimator

Prepare detailed and competitive mechanical estimates and tenders.

Review mechanical drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation.

Identify scope requirements, exclusions, risks and opportunities.

Carry out detailed mechanical take-offs and cost build-ups.

Estimate mechanical systems including HVAC, heating, ventilation, public health and associated services.

Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations.

Liaise with the supply chain to clarify technical scope and pricing.

Analyse tender returns and ensure costs accurately reflect project requirements.

Work closely with design teams on buildability and value engineering.

Support tender meetings, clarifications and presentations.

Manage multiple tenders and ensure submissions meet deadlines.

Support the handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team.

    Requirements

Previous experience as a Mechanical Estimator within an M&E contractor or specialist subcontractor.

Strong understanding of mechanical building services.

Experience estimating commercial, infrastructure or technically complex projects.

Strong knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, heating and public health systems.

Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and schedules.

Experience obtaining and negotiating subcontractor and supplier quotations.

Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.

    Good communication and organisational skills.

    What Our Client Offers

Opportunity to join a leading and financially secure building services contractor.

Exposure to major projects across commercial, infrastructure, healthcare, education and specialist sectors.

Opportunity to work on high-value and technically challenging projects.

Strong forward order book and long-term project pipeline.

Experienced pre-construction, commercial and technical teams.

Excellent opportunities for progression and professional development.

Training and support throughout the role.

Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
