How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Site-Based Electrician / Electrical Maintenance Engineer

    Deeside, near Chester | Up to £43,000 + Benefits | 37.5 Hours | Days | Permanent, Single-Site Role

Are you an Electrician looking for a site-based role where you can focus on electrical maintenance while developing your skills in mechanical maintenance and refrigeration?

An established retail business is looking for a Site-Based Electrician to join its in-house engineering team at a large office and distribution facility in Deeside.

The role is primarily electrical, covering fault finding, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs and general electrical maintenance. There is also the opportunity to gain experience with mechanical plant, refrigeration systems and wider building services, with training available for the right person.

You won't need previous refrigeration experience. The priority is finding an electrician with a solid electrical background who wants to broaden their knowledge and develop into a more multi-skilled engineer over time.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, days

    The Role

As a Site-Based Electrician, you'll be responsible for maintaining the electrical systems and equipment across a large office, depot and distribution facility.

You'll carry out planned maintenance, diagnose electrical faults, respond to breakdowns and complete repairs to keep the site operating safely and efficiently.

The position offers more variety than a traditional electrical maintenance role, with exposure to mechanical equipment, refrigeration plant and building services. You'll work alongside an established engineering team, with the opportunity to learn new skills while retaining a strong electrical focus.

The role is based entirely at one site in Deeside, so there's no travelling between customer premises or multiple locations.

    Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical maintenance across the site.
Diagnose electrical faults and carry out repairs to minimise equipment downtime.
Maintain electrical systems, distribution equipment, plant and associated site infrastructure.
Complete minor electrical installation works, inspections and routine maintenance.
Respond to electrical breakdowns and general maintenance issues.
Assist with the maintenance of refrigeration plant, with training available where required.
Develop knowledge of mechanical equipment and wider site services alongside the engineering team.
Monitor and maintain Trend BMS and other site systems.
Inspect and maintain equipment including dock levellers, access equipment and materials-handling equipment.
Complete statutory maintenance checks and maintain accurate engineering and compliance records.
Use the Shire CMMS system to manage PPM schedules and record completed work.
Assist with the installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment.
Identify ways to improve equipment reliability, performance and energy efficiency.
Work with the Facilities Manager and wider site team to ensure maintenance issues are dealt with efficiently.

    What You'll Need

You'll need a good electrical maintenance background, practical fault-finding skills and the confidence to work on your own initiative.

    Suitable backgrounds include:

    Site-Based Electrician
    Maintenance Electrician
    Electrical Maintenance Engineer
    Industrial Electrician
Electrical Engineer with relevant hands-on maintenance experienceYou'll ideally have:

A recognised electrical qualification, completed apprenticeship or equivalent electrical trade background.
Experience in electrical maintenance, fault finding and reactive repairs.
An understanding of planned preventative maintenance and electrical safety.
Experience working in a commercial, industrial, manufacturing, distribution or facilities environment.
The ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team.
A practical approach to troubleshooting and maintaining equipment.
Knowledge of the 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations would be beneficial.

You don't need to be multi-skilled already. Experience with commercial refrigeration, ammonia systems, mechanical maintenance, Trend BMS or CMMS software would be useful, but isn't essential.

Experience with FLT operation, IPAF equipment or Legionella monitoring would also be an advantage.

If you're an electrician who wants to expand into mechanical maintenance and refrigeration, training will be available to help you develop in these areas.
