How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Learning & Development Officer

    Location: Chelmsford, Essex

    Salary: £35,000 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week, full-time

Are you passionate about helping people learn, develop and reach their full potential?

We’re looking for a proactive and engaging Learning & Development Officer to design and deliver inspiring training programmes that build skills, confidence and capability across a growing organisation.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with people, delivering interactive training and creating learning experiences that make a genuine difference. You’ll work closely with managers and internal teams to identify development needs, deliver engaging sessions and continually improve the learning experience.

    The Role

    * Design, develop and deliver engaging training programmes using face-to-face, virtual and blended learning methods.

    * Facilitate interactive workshops and learning sessions, adapting your approach to suit different audiences and learning styles.

    * Develop training materials, resources and activities that bring learning to life and encourage participation.

    * Deliver induction programmes to support new starters and help them settle into their roles.

    * Work with managers and internal stakeholders to identify skills gaps and create practical learning solutions.

    * Support development across areas including customer service, leadership, workplace safety and professional standards.

    * Evaluate training effectiveness, gather feedback and identify opportunities to improve future programmes.

    * Keep learning materials and resources up to date, ensuring training remains relevant, accessible and effective.

    About You

We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys developing others and can bring energy, enthusiasm and creativity to learning and development.

    You’ll ideally have:

    * Proven experience designing and delivering engaging learning and development programmes.

    * Confidence facilitating training sessions, presenting information and engaging a variety of audiences.

    * A passion for helping people build their skills, knowledge and confidence.

    * The ability to develop effective training materials and adapt your delivery to different learning styles.

    * Strong organisation and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.

    * The ability to evaluate learning outcomes and use feedback to continually improve training.

A Level 3 or above qualification in Learning & Development, Training or Education would be beneficial, alongside experience using learning management systems or digital learning tools.

Experience in a regulated or public-facing environment would also be advantageous, although the ability to develop and deliver effective training is key.

    What’s on Offer?

    * Salary of £35,000 per annum.

    * 37-hour working week.

    * A varied, hands-on role where you can make a real difference to people's development.

    * Opportunities to shape and improve learning programmes across the organisation.

    * A collaborative working environment with scope to develop your own expertise.

Location: This is primarily an office-based role in Chelmsford, with occasional travel to another local site. Some home working may be available when diary commitments allow.

A Basic DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.

If you’re enthusiastic about developing people, creating engaging learning experiences and helping colleagues reach their potential, we’d love to hear from you!
