How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Design Engineer – Special Purpose Machinery

    Location: Rossendale, Lancashire
    Position: Permanent
    Salary: £35,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience

    We are recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a company specialising in the design and manufacture of special purpose machinery.

    This is an opportunity to work on bespoke machinery projects, using SolidWorks to develop practical engineering solutions from initial concept through to manufacture and assembly.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

    Design and develop special purpose machinery using SolidWorks.

    *

    Produce detailed 3D models, assemblies and 2D manufacturing drawings.

    *

    Create bills of materials and supporting technical documentation.

    *

    Select suitable materials and mechanical components.

    *

    Work closely with manufacturing and assembly teams to resolve design queries.

    *

    Review and improve designs for performance, reliability and ease of manufacture.

    *

    Support projects through design, build and testing.

    Skills and Experience

    *

    Previous experience in mechanical design within a machinery or equipment manufacturing environment.

    *

    Proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modelling and detailed engineering drawings.

    *

    Experience designing special purpose machinery, automation equipment or similar mechanical systems would be advantageous.

    *

    A good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and mechanical components.

    *

    Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    *

    A relevant mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
