How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An established social housing contractor is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial function across a portfolio of planned maintenance, refurbishment and decarbonisation projects throughout the West Midlands.

    This is a senior leadership role offering responsibility for a team of Quantity Surveyors, commercial strategy, client relationships and profitable project delivery.

    Description

    Lead the commercial management of multiple social housing contracts across the West Midlands.
    Manage and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
    Ensure robust cost control, budgeting and financial reporting across projects.
    Oversee procurement activities and subcontractor management.
    Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks.
    Maximise contract profitability through effective change control and value management.
    Prepare and review valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
    Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, operational teams and supply chain partners.
    Support senior leadership with commercial strategy and business planning.
    Ensure contractual compliance and adherence to company procedures.Profile

    Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor within the social housing, refurbishment, planned maintenance or retrofit sectors.
    Strong understanding of commercial management principles and contract administration.
    Experience leading and developing commercial teams.
    Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
    Excellent negotiation, communication and leadership skills.
    Strong knowledge of cost reporting, forecasting and risk management.
    Commercially astute with a track record of delivering profitable outcomes.
