How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Town Planner

    Location: Truro

    Salary: £30-45,000

    Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be working with an award-winning, planning-led practice with an excellent reputation, which is now seeking a Town Planner to join its team in Truro.

    The practice combines town planners, architects, designers and landscape architects, taking a joined-up, collaborative approach to development projects from the first concept through to completion.

    You will join a professional and supportive team working on a wide mix of schemes, including residential developments, barn conversions, renewable energy projects, commercial developments and tourism proposals. The work is varied, with plenty of opportunity to get involved in interesting and challenging planning projects.

    The Role

    We are looking for an ambitious, proactive and client-focused Town Planner with relevant experience in a planning-related role.

    Ideally, you will have:

    A degree in Planning or an equivalent planning qualification
    Appropriate experience within the planning sector
    A track record of handling a range of planning applications and development proposals
    Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with clients
    A positive, enthusiastic and proactive attitude
    RTPI membership, which is desirable but not essentialThe practice will also support candidates who are currently working towards RTPI chartership.
