How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    EOTAS Tutor - Leominster, Herefordshire

    Location: Leominster, Herefordshire
    Phase: Secondary / EOTAS / SEND / SEMH
    Working Arrangement: In-person

    Quantum Scholars are looking for a patient, supportive and experienced EOTAS Tutor to provide personalised one-to-one educational support to a young person in Leominster.

    The successful tutor will have experience supporting young people who are unable to access mainstream education and be confident adapting their teaching style, pace and resources to meet individual needs. Experience working with SEND and/or SEMH learners would be highly desirable.

    The role will focus on rebuilding confidence and engagement with education while supporting the learner's academic progress. A strong ability to build positive relationships, understand individual barriers to learning and provide a calm, consistent and flexible approach will be essential.

    Experience supporting young people with anxiety, school avoidance, disengagement or challenging behaviour would be particularly beneficial.

    This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.

    The role may involve:

    Providing personalised one-to-one educational support to a young person accessing EOTAS.
    Supporting the learner across a range of subjects according to their individual needs and the tutor's subject specialisms.
    Supporting English, Maths, Science and other areas of the curriculum where appropriate.
    Adapting lessons, resources, activities and teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
    Identifying gaps in learning and providing targeted academic support.
    Supporting a young person who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education.
    Helping the learner rebuild confidence and develop positive attitudes towards learning.
    Supporting anxiety, school avoidance, disengagement and other barriers to education.
    Creating a calm, structured and positive learning environment.
    Using the learner's interests and strengths to encourage engagement.
    Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour where required.
    Supporting challenging or unpredictable behaviour using appropriate strategies.
    Developing independence, resilience and confidence.
    Monitoring progress and adapting support accordingly.
    Providing appropriate feedback to parents/carers and other professionals involved in the learner's support.
    Building a positive and trusting relationship with the young person.
    Working collaboratively with the wider support team.
    Maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
    Following safeguarding procedures and promoting the welfare of the young person.

    Essential requirements:

    Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
    Experience supporting learners who are outside mainstream education.
    Experience providing one-to-one tuition or personalised educational support.
    Experience working within an EOTAS, Alternative Provision, school or similar educational setting.
    Ability to adapt teaching methods, resources and pace according to individual needs.
    Experience supporting learners who may be reluctant, anxious or disengaged from education.
    Experience supporting challenging behaviour would be highly desirable.
    A patient, calm, flexible and empathetic approach.
    Ability to build trusting and respectful relationships with young people.
    Strong communication and organisational skills.
    Ability to create a positive and structured learning environment.
    Reliable and consistent approach to work.
    Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
    Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
