How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant

London (TW2) | Hybrid, potential remote working
    £35,000 - £55,000

Are you a Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant looking for a role combining technical assessments, drainage strategies and hydraulic modelling? This opportunity offers varied project work within an independent environmental consultancy, with direct client involvement and flexible working arrangements.

The Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant will join an established team supporting development projects, preparing technical assessments and contributing to client relationships and new business opportunities.

The Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant role will include:

Preparing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies

Reviewing and interpreting flood modelling data

Producing technical reports, mapping and supporting figures

    Planning and undertaking site investigations

    Preparing project quotations and tenders

Liaising directly with clients throughout project delivery

The Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant should have:

Around 3-8 years' relevant flood risk and drainage experience

Experience using Causeway Flow or MicroDrainage

1D and 2D modelling experience using HEC-RAS, Flood Modeller or similar

AutoCAD experience and strong technical report writing skills

Confidence managing workloads and communicating with clients

A relevant degree and full UK driving licence

The client is open to considering candidates with between three and eight years' relevant experience, ideally around five years. This flexibility is reflected in the £35,000 - £55,000 salary range, with the offer dependent on the individual's technical experience and ability to work independently. Hybrid working is available, with potential remote working for the right candidate.

If this Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant role feels close but not quite perfect, please do not be put off from applying. I specialise in Civil Engineering, Water and Flood Risk recruitment and may also be able to help with other suitable roles that are not currently advertised.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
