How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Enjoy solving practical engineering problems and working directly with customers?

Proactive Global is recruiting a Repair and Service Engineer for an established engineering manufacturer in Luton. This role combines customer-site installation, commissioning and repair work with hands-on assembly and overhaul duties at the Luton workshop between assignments.

    What you will be doing:

    * Installing, commissioning, maintaining and repairing pumps and rotating equipment.

    * Acting as the main customer contact during site work.

    * Supervising contractors, customer personnel and supplied labour where required.

    * Completing risk assessments and following site safety procedures.

    * Investigating and resolving technical problems.

    * Working with engineering and management teams to deliver work to specification.

    * Completing service reports, timesheets and supporting records.

    * Supporting workshop assembly, overhaul, inspection and testing when not travelling.

    What you will bring:

    * Hands-on experience with pumps, rotating equipment or similar industrial machinery.

    * Relevant experience within power, manufacturing or oil and gas.

    * An HNC, technical certificate, engineering apprenticeship and/or equivalent practical experience.

    * Mechanical and/or electrical engineering skills.

    * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

    * Familiarity with installation and commissioning.

    * Good customer communication and practical problem-solving skills.

    * Willingness to travel and work shifts as required.

Previous field service experience is beneficial, and high-voltage experience is preferred. Please include details of any offshore safety, emergency training, overhead crane or slinger qualifications in your application.

    What’s on offer:

    * £34,719.49 basic salary plus 33% shift allowance, totalling £46,176.92 per annum.

    * Potential total earnings up to £60,000 through travel-related payments. Higher earnings depend on travel assignments and are not a guaranteed workshop salary.

    * Training and development opportunities.

    * Annual leave with the option to purchase additional days.

    * Contributory pension and life assurance.

    * Healthcare cashback, virtual GP access and employee assistance.

    * Cycle-to-work scheme and employee discounts.

    * Free parking at the Luton facility.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK.
