How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Role: CNC Miller Programmer, Setter & Operator
    Location: South Leicestershire
    Shift: Rotating - 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm (Friday 6am-1pm and 1pm-8pm)
    Salary: £30,800 to £38,500 per annum, incl shift allowance

    About the Role

    We are looking for an experienced 3-Axis CNC Milling Programmer, Setter and Operator to join a precision manufacturing team producing high-quality optical components.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC Milling machines to manufacture delicate components to extremely tight tolerances. Attention to detail, good technical skills and a commitment to quality are essential.

    Key Responsibilities

    Programme, set and operate 3-axis CNC milling machines.
    Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
    Machine precision components to tight, micron-level tolerances.
    Set up machines, select tooling and check machine settings before production.
    Produce first-off components and carry out regular quality checks during production.
    Use precision measuring equipment, including CMM, to inspect finished components.
    Clean and inspect components for scratches, chips, damage or contamination.
    Handle delicate and high-value components carefully throughout the manufacturing process.
    Complete production paperwork, inspection records and quality documentation.
    Identify opportunities to improve production processes and product quality.About You

    Proven experience programming, setting and operating 3-axis CNC milling machines.
    Experience manufacturing precision components to tight tolerances.
    Ability to work to micron-level measurements.
    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
    Experience using precision measuring equipment.
    Good understanding of machining processes, tooling and cutting parameters.
    Excellent attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
    Ability to handle small, delicate components carefully.
    Good organisational skills and time management.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    Understanding of health and safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.Desirable Skills and Experience

    Experience with 5-axis CNC machinery.
    Experience using CMM equipment.
    Knowledge of CNC programming software or CAM systems.
    Previous experience in precision engineering or optical manufacturing.
    Experience working with specialist, brittle or non-metallic materials.
    Knowledge of optical surface inspection and cleanliness standards.
    Understanding of ISO/DIN standards, SPC or Lean manufacturing.Apply
