How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Teaching Assistant - SEND, SEMH & Behaviour Support

Reeson Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant for a fantastic full-time, long-term opportunity at a primary school in the SK5 area of Stockport.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges. The successful candidate will work across the school, including within the school's dedicated SEND Nurture Room, providing consistent, tailored support to pupils who need additional help to access learning, manage their emotions and develop positive relationships.

The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant who understands that every child has different needs and that patience, consistency and the right support can make a significant difference to a pupil's school experience.

Previous experience working in a UK primary school is essential, alongside practical experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs. This role would suit a Teaching Assistant who is confident adapting their approach to meet individual needs and who can remain calm, positive and supportive when working with children who may find the school environment challenging.

With an ASAP start, full-time hours and a long-term commitment, this is a brilliant opportunity for a Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a primary setting.

    The Role - Teaching Assistant

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work across the primary school, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs both in the classroom and within the SEND Nurture Room.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs throughout the school day.
Providing individual and small-group support where required.
Working within the SEND Nurture Room to help pupils engage with learning and develop positive behaviours.
Supporting children with additional communication needs, including non-verbal pupils.
Helping pupils regulate their emotions and manage challenging situations safely and positively.
Encouraging participation, confidence, independence and engagement in learning.
Adapting your approach to suit individual learning, communication and emotional needs.
Working closely with teachers and other support staff to provide consistent support.
Helping create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
Promoting positive relationships, clear boundaries and appropriate behaviour.

The successful Teaching Assistant will be flexible and comfortable working across different areas of the school, responding to pupils' changing needs throughout the day.

    Essential Experience & Requirements

To be considered for this Teaching Assistant role, you must have:

Previous experience working in a UK primary school.
Practical experience supporting children with SEND and additional learning needs.
Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges.
An understanding of how to support children who may become dysregulated or struggle to engage in learning.
Experience supporting pupils with communication needs, including non-verbal children.
A calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour support.
The ability to build trusting relationships with children and work effectively as part of a team.
A flexible, proactive attitude and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable pupils.

Experience supporting children with autism (ASD), ADHD and complex emotional or behavioural needs would be particularly beneficial.

The school needs a Teaching Assistant who can offer more than general classroom support: someone who understands the importance of individualised support, positive relationships and helping children feel safe enough to learn.

What Makes This Teaching Assistant Opportunity Appealing?

This Teaching Assistant position offers the chance to work in a primary school where support for pupils with additional needs is an important part of the role.

You will have the opportunity to support children across the school, gain valuable experience within a SEND Nurture Room and contribute to pupils' emotional, social and educational development.

    The role offers:

    Full-time, Monday-to-Friday hours.
A long-term placement with an ASAP start.
    Consistent working hours of 8:30am-4:00pm.
Competitive pay of £14.25-£16.65 per hour, PAYE or Umbrella.
Varied experience supporting SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs.
The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children's daily school experience.
