How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Town Planner
    Location: London
    Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

    A multidisciplinary consultancy providing a wide range of planning and architectural services across the industrial, commercial, residential and mixed-use sectors is growing its London team. It is looking for a capable and experienced Senior Town Planner to join at an exciting point in its development.

    Providing strategic and detailed planning advice to clients and project teams
    Undertaking planning appraisals and identifying development opportunities and constraints
    Developing and delivering planning strategies for a range of development schemes
    Managing the preparation and submission of full, outline and hybrid planning applications
    Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams and external consultants
    Negotiating and engaging with local planning authorities and other stakeholders
    Managing planning conditions, amendments, variations and related submissions
    Supporting, and where appropriate leading, planning appeals
    Advising on Section 106 agreements and associated planning obligations
    Preparing representations on development plans and emerging planning policy
    Supporting the promotion of sites through the plan-making processRequirements of the Senior Town Planner:

    An RTPI-accredited degree in Town Planning or a closely related field
    Chartered RTPI membership, or currently working towards chartership
    Significant experience in a planning consultancy, development company, architectural practice or comparable environment
    A thorough understanding of the UK planning system and the development management process
    A proven record of managing planning applications from initial concept through to determination
    Experience on commercial, industrial, logistics, employment or mixed-use schemes would be beneficial
    The ability to develop clear, commercially realistic planning strategies
    Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and external consultants
    Confidence in engaging with local planning authorities and other stakeholders
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Strong organisational and project management abilities
    The capacity to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team
