How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Plant Fitter / Heavy Plant Engineer

    Leeds | Up to £55,000 + Company Van | Monday-Friday

    Alecto Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Plant Fitter / Heavy Plant Engineer to join a well-established engineering business based in Leeds.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys fault finding, getting hands-on with machinery and working on equipment where no two days are the same.

    The Role

    You'll be responsible for keeping a varied fleet of heavy machinery and associated equipment in excellent working condition, carrying out maintenance, repairs and fault diagnosis both at the depot and on customer sites.

    Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

    Servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy plant and machinery.
    Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
    Working on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, pumps and associated components.
    Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.
    Attending customer sites across the UK when required, including occasional overnight stays.
    Reading and interpreting technical diagrams to identify and resolve faults.
    Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

    What We're Looking For

    We're keen to speak with engineers from backgrounds including plant hire, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, heavy plant or similar industries.

    You'll ideally have:

    Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Heavy Plant Engineer or Agricultural Engineer.
    Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
    Experience working with diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
    The ability to work independently and solve technical problems.
    A full UK driving licence.
    A relevant engineering qualification, such as an NVQ in Plant Maintenance, would be advantageous.
    Additional industry-related training and welding experience would also be beneficial.
