How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Lead Test Engineer

    £55,000 - £60,000 Per annum 

    Full time, Permanent 

    This role for the Lead Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all new and existing products meet the highest standards of functionality, reliability and requirement compliance before release and when in manufacture.

    As the Lead Test Engineer you will define and drive testing strategies, manage testing operations, and oversee all preparations for qualification testing.

    You will work closely with product development, manufacturing, project management and engineering peers to deliver testing solutions that align with customer expectations, design intent and support key business objectives.

    Key responsibilities for the Lead Test Engineer:

    Develop and implement comprehensive test strategies and plans for products, including:

    Lead and manage the test function to ensure efficient definition of test strategies & specifications, execution of test cases, defect tracking and resolution.

    Develop the organisation’s standard processes and practice regarding qualification and production testing, including defect tracking and resolution.

    Identify effort and resources required to execute the test strategies.

    Coordinate with product managers, customers and SME engineers to understand product requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios.

    Lead the test programme execution, report on progress and manage issues and risks with the Project team.

    Oversee various testing types, including qualification performance, environmental, system integration, EMC, shock/ vibration and production/ function.

    Liaise with 3rd party test houses regarding capability, test execution, defect reporting and resolution.

    Ensure compliance with industry regulations, customer requirements and company safety & quality standards throughout the testing lifecycle.

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product releases and post-release support.

    Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies to enhance product quality and team productivity.

    Previous experience for the Lead Test Engineer:

    Proficiency in test planning, test case design, execution, and reporting.

    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

    Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    A background in the testing of communications and networking equipment is required. Experience of testing in a military domain is advantageous.

    A thorough understanding of system testing methodologies and tools.

    Strong leadership and experience of leading multi-faceted Test and Acceptance projects.

    Experience of working directly with customers to accept system requirements.

    Strong communicator with the ability to work with multiple teams internal and external and effectively balance / prioritise work around programme milestones.
