How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Geoenvironmental Consultant - Manchester

    Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

    An established ground engineering consultancy is looking to recruit a Senior Geoenvironmental Consultant to join its team in Manchester.

    This is a great opportunity for an experienced consultant looking to take on more responsibility, work on a varied range of projects and play a key role in the delivery of geoenvironmental work.

    The Role

    You will be involved in a range of geoenvironmental and contaminated land projects, from initial site investigation through to reporting and remediation. Responsibilities will include:

    Managing and delivering Phase 1 Desk Studies and Phase 2 Site Investigations.
    Preparing factual and interpretative reports, including contaminated land assessments.
    Overseeing site works, supervising contractors and ensuring projects are delivered safely and efficiently.
    Managing project budgets, programmes and client relationships.
    Providing technical advice on ground conditions, contamination risks and remediation strategies.
    Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.
    Liaising with clients, regulators and other project stakeholders.About You

    Experience in a geoenvironmental consultancy role, ideally at Senior Consultant level.
    A strong background in contaminated land and site investigation.
    Experience preparing geoenvironmental reports and interpreting ground investigation data.
    Good knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and guidance.
    Confident managing projects and communicating with clients.
    A relevant degree in geology, environmental science, or a related discipline.A full UK driving licence is desirable due to the site-based nature of the role.
