How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Fabricator & Assembly Technician

    Location: Suffolk

    Salary: £19.00 - £22.00 per hour (depending on experience)

    The Opportunity

    An established specialist engineering manufacturer is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fabricator & Assembly Technician to join its production team.

    This is a varied, hands-on position combining high-quality fabrication and welding with mechanical assembly and fitting. You'll be involved in the manufacture of bespoke engineered products, structural fabrications and mechanically driven systems, working from detailed engineering drawings and specifications.

    The role offers the opportunity to work on unique, technically challenging projects within a modern manufacturing environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fabricate structural and architectural components using MIG, TIG and MMA welding processes.

    Manufacture bespoke fabrications from mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

    Construct custom frameworks, platforms, support structures and mounting assemblies.

    Operate fabrication equipment including saws, rollers, press brakes, grinders and cutting machinery.

    Ensure all fabricated components meet drawing specifications and quality standards.

    Assemble mechanical systems including bearings, motors, gearboxes, pulleys, linear rails and drive mechanisms.

    Install, align and fit moving components to ensure safe and reliable operation.

    Carry out testing and basic fault-finding on completed mechanical assemblies.

    Work accurately from engineering drawings, assembly drawings and technical specifications.

    Complete in-process inspections and quality checks.

    Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.

    Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support successful project delivery.

    Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.

    Skills & Experience Required

    Proven experience within a welding and fabrication environment.

    Strong MIG and TIG welding capabilities.

    Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

    Mechanical assembly, fitting or machine-build experience.

    Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.

    Competent in the use of fabrication machinery and workshop equipment.

    Experience using hand tools and precision measuring equipment.

    Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

    Ability to manage workloads and meet production deadlines.

    Good understanding of health and safety within a manufacturing environment.

    Desirable Qualifications

    Recognised welding certifications.

    Apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent engineering qualification.

    Experience building bespoke machinery, automation equipment or complex mechanical assemblies.

    Previous experience within a project-based manufacturing environment.
