How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quality Engineer

    Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire
    Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum DOE
    Hours: Full-time
    Job Type: Permanent

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a well-established engineering business based in Abingdon.

    The successful candidate will provide professional quality engineering support to the business, with a particular focus on manufacturing quality control, inspection and continuous improvement.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Liaising with customers and suppliers regarding quality-related issues
    Supporting manufacturing and reporting quality shortfalls
    Training operators in inspection techniques and the use of measurement equipment
    Supporting the management and calibration of measurement and test equipment
    Setting measurement equipment for use by manufacturing operators
    Improving inspection and quality techniques and equipment
    Translating customer quality requirements into detailed manufacturing instructions
    Producing inspection reports and final inspection trend analysis
    Managing non-conformances and customer complaints using 8D and 5 Why methodologies
    Compiling and submitting customer documentation packs
    Conducting system, process and supplier audits
    Creating Quality Control Plans and LTQRS for customer projects
    Working closely with customers, suppliers and internal manufacturing teamsRequirements:

    Minimum 5 years' recent experience as a Quality Engineer or in a similar quality-related role
    Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship preferred
    Strong knowledge of inspection techniques
    Ability to interpret complex mechanical engineering drawings
    Ability to determine appropriate measuring techniques
    Experience producing inspection and quality reports
    Good project management skills
    Confident liaising with customers and suppliers
    Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
    Ability to train employees in quality-related subjects
    Strong understanding of manufacturing quality controlDesirable:

    Experience programming CMMs
    PC-DMIS programming experience
    PC-DMIS Level 2 qualification
    Experience with Hexagon S Chrome CMMs, including tactile and laser heads
    ISO 9000 Auditor qualificationThe Company:
