How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are excited to be recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Software Systems Engineer to join their innovative engineering team in Bridgend.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful UK manufacturer of advanced, high-tech equipment supplied to customers worldwide. You'll develop software that interacts directly with machinery, control systems and hardware - making this an ideal role for a software engineer from a manufacturing, automation or engineering environment.

    The Role

You will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of software used to control complex engineering systems.

Working closely with mechanical, electrical and production engineers, you'll be involved in:

Developing and maintaining VB.NET software for industrial applications.

Integrating software with machinery, hardware and control systems.

Supporting machine and motion control applications.

    Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.

Testing, commissioning and supporting equipment installations.

Contributing to new product development and continuous improvement.

The role offers exposure to the full development lifecycle, from requirements and design through to testing, implementation and ongoing support.

    About You

    You will ideally have:

HND/Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline.

    5+ years' software development experience.

    Strong VB.NET skills.

Experience within a manufacturing, industrial, automation or engineering environment.

Experience of, or an interest in, machine control, motion control or hardware integration.

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

The ability to work effectively alongside multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

Experience with PLCs, automation, laser control systems or industrial machinery would be advantageous.

    What's on Offer

    Negotiable salary depending on experience.

    Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm; Friday 8:30am-1:30pm.

25 days' holiday plus bank holidays.

    Enhanced pension.

    Company bonus scheme.

    Full training and ongoing support.

If you're a software engineer who enjoys working close to machinery, hardware and real-world engineering problems, we'd love to hear from you.
