How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Principal Transport Planner - London

    Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + Bonus & Benefits
I'm currently representing a leading transport consultancy in their search for a Principal Transport Planner to join their London team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and highly respected transport planning team, working on some of the UK's most complex and high-profile development and infrastructure projects.

    The Opportunity

As a Principal Transport Planner, you'll take a leading role in the delivery of projects, acting as a key technical and client-facing figure within the business.

You'll be responsible for managing projects and client relationships, providing strategic transport planning advice and helping to develop the team and wider business.

The role will offer exposure to a varied portfolio of projects across the UK, working alongside major developers, local authorities, architects and multidisciplinary design teams.

    Responsibilities will include:

Leading the delivery of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and wider transport planning studies
Managing projects from inception through to completion
Acting as a senior point of contact for clients, local authorities and other stakeholders
Providing technical and strategic transport planning advice
Reviewing and overseeing technical work produced by more junior members of the team
Mentoring and developing junior and mid-level consultants
Managing project budgets, programmes and deliverables
Supporting bids, fee proposals and business development / work-winning activities
Building and maintaining strong client relationships
Representing the company at meetings and presentations
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across major development and infrastructure projects

    About You

    You'll ideally have:

Strong experience within a transport planning consultancy
A strong understanding of transport planning and the UK planning process
Proven experience delivering Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and development-related transport projects
The ability to take technical ownership of projects and provide sound professional advice
Experience managing client relationships and project teams
Strong report-writing, presentation and communication skills
Experience mentoring or managing more junior members of a team
A commercially aware and proactive approach
Ideally, experience contributing to business development, bids and winning new work

    What's on Offer?

    £55,000 - £65,000 salary, depending on experience
    Bonus and benefits package
Opportunity to work on high-profile development and infrastructure projects
Exposure to major developers, architects and infrastructure providers
A senior position within an established and growing transport planning team
Genuine opportunity for further career progression
    Flexible and hybrid working
    Collaborative and supportive working environment
Opportunity to play a significant role in the continued growth of the London team
If you're a Principal Transport Planner looking for a position where you can take greater ownership of projects, clients and technical delivery, I'd be keen to hear from you.
