How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Graduate Civil Engineer

    £27,500 per annum

    Are you a Graduate Civil Engineer looking to build a career in water management, drainage, and flood risk? This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, well-established infrastructure consultancy where you will work alongside experienced engineers on a varied portfolio of development and infrastructure projects across the UK.

    As a Graduate Civil Engineer, part of the Water Management team, you will have the opportunity to develop your technical skills, gain exposure to challenging projects and work towards professional development with dedicated support from experienced colleagues.

    Assisting with flood risk assessments and drainage assessments
    Supporting the preparation of sustainable drainage (SuDS) strategies
    Assisting with the design and assessment of drainage infrastructure
    Preparing technical reports, calculations and supporting documentation
    Working on SuDS management and maintenance plans
    Liaising with clients, local authorities, water companies and other project stakeholders
    Working collaboratively with colleagues across water management, infrastructure design and transport planningRequirements for the Graduate Civil Engineer role:

    A degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline
    Some familiarity with drainage design software such as MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage
    Basic knowledge of hydrological or hydraulic modelling software, such as Flood Modeller or TUFLOW
    Relevant placement, internship or university project experience within civil engineering, drainage, flood risk or water management
    A full UK driving license
    The full right to work in the UK
