How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Overnight Allowance: £30 per night
Contract: 3 months initially, with potential to extend
Working Pattern: Flexible, depending on business needs
Travel: UK-wide, with regular overnight stays

    About the Role

We are recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join a specialist water recycling services business on an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for the position to be extended longer term.

Based from Knottingley, you will travel to customer sites throughout the UK, typically working between Monday and Thursday, servicing and maintaining wash pad water recycling systems.

This is a practical, hands-on role and would suit someone who is reliable, trustworthy and comfortable getting stuck in. Previous experience within water recycling or water treatment is not essential. What matters most is having a strong practical attitude, being comfortable using hand tools, and being willing to learn.

You will work alongside an experienced engineer, receiving full training and support while carrying out servicing, cleaning, inspections, fault-finding and component replacement on customer systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Travel to customer sites throughout the UK.

    * Service and maintain wash pad water recycling systems.

    * Carry out planned servicing and preventative maintenance.

    * Clean wash pads, filters and system components.

    * Inspect pumps, compressors, fuel tanks and interceptors.

    * Fault-find and troubleshoot equipment.

    * Replace pumps, compressors, filters and other components.

    * Carry out general practical maintenance and repairs.

    * Keep customer sites clean, safe and tidy.

    * Complete service records and job paperwork.

    * Liaise professionally with customers while on site.

    * Follow company health and safety procedures.

    * Report faults, issues and incidents appropriately.

    About You

We are looking for someone who is:

    Practical, hands-on and mechanically minded.

    Reliable, trustworthy and dependable.

Comfortable using a range of hand tools.

Happy working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Comfortable getting dirty and working around wastewater.

Able to identify faults and solve basic mechanical problems.

Willing to learn new skills and equipment.

Happy to travel extensively throughout the UK.

Comfortable staying away from home during the working week.

    Customer-focused with good communication skills.

Able to work independently and manage your own workload.

Physically capable of carrying out hands-on maintenance work.

A holder of a full UK driving licence.

    Desirable Experience & Qualifications

The following would be advantageous, although they are not essential:

    OFTEC qualification.

Previous engineering, mechanical or maintenance experience.

Experience working with pumps or compressors.

Experience in water treatment, water recycling or similar systems.

    FLT licence.

    Current DBS check.

Don't have an OFTEC qualification but have strong practical maintenance experience? We'd still like to hear from you.

    What's on Offer?

    * Up to £16.00 per hour, depending on experience.

    * £30 overnight stay allowance.

    * Initial 3-month contract, with potential to extend.

    * Accommodation arranged and paid for by the company within an agreed reasonable cost.

    * UK-wide travel expenses covered.

    * Flexible working pattern, dependent on business needs

    * Full training and ongoing support from an experienced engineer.

    * Opportunity for ongoing work with a specialist and growing business.

    Apply Today

If you're a hands-on, dependable and practical person who doesn't mind getting stuck in, travelling around the UK and staying away from home during the working week, this could be an excellent opportunity.

Previous water recycling experience is not essential — we're more interested in your practical ability, attitude and reliability.
