How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    HR Advisor

    Location: South Shields and Wallsend

    Salary: £39,669 - £47,439 per annum

Are you a proactive HR professional looking for an opportunity to make a real difference? Do you thrive on building strong relationships, providing expert advice and helping organisations create positive workplaces where people can succeed?

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated HR Advisor to join our HR team.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will provide a professional generalist HR advisory service across the College, supporting managers and employees on a wide range of people matters while contributing to strategic workforce initiatives.

    About the Role

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will work closely with leaders across curriculum and professional service areas, providing expert advice on employee relations, organisational change, recruitment, attendance management, policy development and employment legislation. You will manage a diverse caseload, coach managers through complex people issues and contribute to the development of a positive, high-performing workplace culture.

A key aspect of this role is leading the College's staff wellbeing agenda, including coordinating wellbeing initiatives, analysing workforce data and maintaining the College's participation in the Better Health at Work Award.

    About You

We are looking for an HR professional who can demonstrate:

    * Significant experience providing a generalist HR advisory service within a complex organisation.

    * Strong knowledge of employment legislation, HR best practice and employee relations.

    * Experience managing a varied HR casework portfolio independently.

    * The ability to influence, challenge and support managers at all levels.

    * Excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills.

    * Experience of using HR systems and workforce data to identify trends and inform action.

    * A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and safeguarding.

    * You will hold a CIPD Level 5 qualification or above (or equivalent experience) and be passionate about delivering a professional, customer-focused HR service.

    Why Join Us?

At Tyne Coast College, you'll join a supportive HR team committed to making a positive impact on the employee experience. You'll have the opportunity to influence organisational development, lead meaningful wellbeing initiatives and contribute to the success of an ambitious and values-driven college.
