How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Optical Precision – Aylesford, Kent
    CMM Quality Inspector
    Salary: £ 38.000 – 42.000 Per Annum, Plus Overtime & Benefits | Permanent

    Working hours: Day shift, 07:30–16:00

    Optical Precision is looking for an experienced CMM Quality Inspector to join our growing company in Kent.

    Purpose of the Role

    To ensure components produced in the machine shop meet the required standards for dimensions, quantity, material, surface finish and overall quality, from incoming material through to finished and assembled products.

    CMM Quality Inspector - Main Responsibilities

    * Raise and complete QC inspection sheets for planned jobs.

    * Carry out regular patrol inspections of CNC machines, typically every 2 hours or as required.

    * Inspect components against engineering drawings, specifications and mating parts.

    * Identify and report quality issues and work with the production team to resolve them.

    * Develop product knowledge to eventually carry out final inspection of completed assemblies.

    * Maintain and verify inspection equipment and calibration records.

    * Inspect incoming materials against purchase orders and check material certification and traceability, including PED/PE(S)R** requirements.

    * Book materials into Sage, allocate them to the correct jobs and resolve quantity discrepancies with suppliers.

    * Book finished components in and ensure jobs are correctly closed.

    * Assist with QC of welded DIFs and record leak-test results.

    * Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.

    CMM Quality Inspector - Candidate Requirements

    * Previous QC/inspection experience within a precision engineering or CNC machining environment.

    * Good understanding of CNC machining and the ability to recognise potential manufacturing issues.

    * Confident and competent using a range of precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, height gauges, thread gauges, etc.

    * Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings and tolerances.

    * Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.

    * Experience with Sage or other MRP/manufacturing systems would be advantageous.

    * Knowledge of material certification and traceability would be advantageous.

    * Basic mechanical assembly knowledge would be beneficial.

    * CMM experience would be an advantage, as we are looking to develop our inspection capabilities and may introduce a CMM in the future.
