How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    JOB DESCRIPTION
    Job Title: Design Engineer
     
    Job Purpose Statement 
    The position operates at a management level and reports to the Technical and Operations Directors.
    The role requires someone with an exceptional customer service ethos, strong organisational and effective
    communications skills. The principle aim of this role is to deliver outstanding service through a process of
    continuous development and maintenance of effective processes and procedures. A key requirement is the ability
    to lead projects to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget. The successful candidate will be expected
    to contribute to the development and implementation of the company’s energy service products and initiatives.
     
    Job Accountabilities 
    ▪ When called upon, assist the sales team with tender design to ensure the business design QA is considered at point of quotation;
    ▪ Provide technical support to fellow employee’s when required; 
    ▪ Responsible for the production of standard design documents and updates as necessary in order to meet therequirements of QMP05 Design & Development Procedure in the QA manual; ▪ Attend off site meetings as required including Project Handover and Project review meetings;
    ▪ Frequently interface and communicate with customers to assist with project progress;
    ▪ Ensure Project files are kept up to date in line with quality management procedures;
    ▪ Ensure design is carried out on programme and within budget;
    ▪ Continuous review of project design throughout the project lifecycle highlighting any variations to our contractual
    scope; ▪ Review and comment on sub-contractor documents ensuring they meet our required standard;
    ▪ Liaise with internal colleagues to co-ordinate end-to-end delivery of project programme;
    ▪ Produce, submit and amend technical submittals for Projects including but not limited to the following as
    required:
    1. Description of Operations
    2. Equipment Schedules
    3. Electrical Schedules
    4. Valve Schedules
    5. Operating & Maintenance Manuals
    6. Network Topologies
    7. Wiring Diagrams – Confirm panel loadings and submit to panel manufacturers
    8. Software Design
    9. Graphics Design – Create and submit to client
     
    ▪ Update MS&RA’s to reflect current stage of project, issue to client, copy to project manager;
    ▪ Attend FAT’s & SAT’s as required; ▪ Attend site at the start of the commissioning/engineer process;
    ▪ Problem solve any pinch point technical issues on site;
    ▪ Assist with training engineers on site and off site;
    ▪ Produce packs for commissioning/witnessing;
    ▪ Ownership of company strategy libraries, including development of software change control policy;
    ▪ Panel Drawings – Check, adjust & approve;
    ▪ Contribute to ensure all new works are priced and quoted within agreed company performance targets;
    ▪ Contribute to ensure all customer invoices/part invoices/applications are submitted on time with all necessary
    information in order that payment will be secured;
    ▪ Successful delivery of all works under their control, ensuring all works are delivered on time and at the margin approved at the point of sale;
    ▪ Create technical submittals and O&M documentation;
    ▪ Create wiring schedule & panel loadings & submit to panel manufactures;
    ▪ Write software for Control systems & internal processes;
    ▪ Create graphics & submit to client with amendments until approved;
    ▪ Receive completed draft panel drawings from manufacturer, check & adjust / approve; ▪
    Send annotated drawings back to manufacturers for correction until correct;
    ▪ Receive amended drawings, proof changes & issue for client approval;
    ▪ Correct drawings as per client instruction until correct;
    ▪ Receive client approval & issue drawings for manufacture according to project timeline; 
    ▪ Carry out conditional site surveys, with detailed reports & quote recommendations; 
    ▪ Ensure all variation work on design is communicated with the project manager for capture;
    ▪ Contribute to ensure all reports are submitted to clients within agreed company performance targets;
    ▪ Recognise the importance of procedures and processes and adhere to these to deliver a high standard of
    customer service;
    ▪ Liaise with internal colleagues to co-ordinate end-to-end delivery of Customer Service;
    ▪ Work confidently within a pressurised environment, multi tasking between the different operational disciplines.
    ▪ Knowledge of energy management initiatives;
    ▪ Attend training courses as requested;
    ▪ Adhere to company health & safety procedures and policies;
    ▪ Be aware of and comply with Global Associates ISO 9001 quality management system including all applicable
    Quality Procedures;
    ▪ Any other duties deemed suitable & necessary by the senior management team.
     
    Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    • Qualifications Proven experience in a similar role
    • Skills and Aptitudes Ability to work under own initiative but work as part of a team Sales awareness Commercial awareness Technical expertise on multiple HVAC products
    Strong knowledge of system integration
    Energy awareness
    Good attention to detail Exceptional time management and organisational skills Self motivated, responsible and accountable Customer Service Skills – ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
    Use of Excel, Word & Outlook and in-house Service Management database & Financial systems In depth system knowledge of at least two BMS systems
    • Job knowledge Financial Experience to P&L level / Customer Service / Project Management / Information Management
    • Experience A minimum of three years in a customer service facing environment
    • Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities The role has managerial responsibility for the following new positions to be created in the company: Trainee Design Engineers.
