How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Design & Technology Technician

    Location: Leeds
    Salary: £110-£140 per day
    Contract: Temporary
    Hours: 37
    Start Date: 2nd November

    We are currently recruiting for a Design & Technology Technician to join a welcoming secondary school and provide essential technical and practical support to the Design & Technology department.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a practical, hands-on background who enjoys working in a school environment and supporting students and teaching staff.

    The Role

    As a Design & Technology Technician, you will work closely with teaching staff to ensure the department is fully prepared and equipped for practical lessons. You will help maintain a safe, organised and well-resourced workshop environment and support the smooth delivery of practical activities.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    Preparing materials, tools and equipment for Design & Technology lessons.
    Providing practical and technical support to teaching staff during lessons.
    Ensuring workshops, classrooms and equipment are maintained to a high standard.
    Carrying out routine maintenance and basic repairs of tools and equipment.
    Supporting the safe use of machinery, tools and workshop equipment.
    Monitoring stock levels and ordering materials and resources when required.
    Assisting with the preparation and production of resources and student projects.
    Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
    Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
    Supporting teachers and students with practical projects where appropriate.

    About You

    The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in a workshop, engineering, manufacturing, construction, carpentry, joinery or Design & Technology environment.

    School experience would be advantageous but is not essential for the right candidate.

    We are particularly interested in candidates with practical experience in areas such as:

    Woodwork / carpentry / joinery
    Metalwork
    Engineering
    Product Design
    CAD/CAM
    3D printing
    CNC machinery
    Workshop tools and equipmentYou will need to be practical, organised and reliable, with a strong understanding of workshop safety and a genuine interest in supporting young people.
