How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are looking for a Test Engineer to join our engineering and manufacturing team, responsible for the testing, validation and reporting of electrical equipment in accordance with established quality procedures, engineering standards and safety requirements.

This is a hands-on technical role at the forefront of testing and engineering innovation. You will work with high-voltage, high-power electrical equipment, supporting both current manufacturing operations and the development of future test capabilities.

Working closely with Electrical, Hydraulic, Quality and Production teams, you will ensure that test plans are delivered effectively, equipment meets required standards and all testing is carried out safely, accurately and efficiently.

    Key Responsibilities

    Testing & Technical Delivery

Perform acceptance and performance testing on large-scale induction motors and associated electrical equipment, including systems up to 13.8 kV and 3.2 MW.
Prepare and operate large-scale electrical test setups in accordance with approved test plans and engineering requirements.
Monitor, measure, record and analyse test data accurately.
Identify and investigate abnormal test results, supporting fault-finding and technical problem solving where required.
Complete and maintain accurate test documentation and reports.
Ensure test reports are completed and entered into relevant engineering systems within 24 hours of test completion.
Support the development, improvement and implementation of test data acquisition and automated test control systems.
Ensure test equipment is correctly configured, maintained and suitable for the required test activity.Health, Safety & Quality

Maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety when working in a high-risk, high-voltage test environment.
Follow all relevant safe systems of work, risk assessments, procedures and engineering instructions.
Ensure test equipment is operational, maintained and within its required calibration period.
Work in accordance with approved quality plans, test procedures and engineering standards.
Ensure testing activities provide accurate, traceable and reliable results that support product quality and integrity.
Report and escalate safety, quality or equipment issues promptly.Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Coordinate with Production teams to support testing schedules for new units, repairs and spare equipment.
Work collaboratively with Electrical, Hydraulic, Quality and other Engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and structured problem solving.
Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency, reliability, quality and safety.
Support the introduction of new test methods, equipment and technologies.
Maintain a clean, organised and professional test environment.Essential Requirements

Level 4/5 qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Practical experience working with high-voltage electrical equipment.
Demonstrable experience of large-scale electrical test setups and power systems.
Experience working to formal test procedures, test plans and quality requirements.
Experience collecting, recording and interpreting electrical test data.
Experience with instrumentation and/or data acquisition systems.
Strong understanding and commitment to Health & Safety, particularly when working with high-voltage or high-energy systems.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation.
Practical, proactive and flexible approach to engineering problem solving.
Positive "can-do" attitude with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.Desirable Experience

Knowledge of relevant IEC and ISO standards, particularly IEC 60034 and ISO 9906.
Experience carrying out dielectric, insulation and performance testing.
Experience testing large induction motors or rotating electrical machines.
Experience with variable speed drives (VSDs).
Knowledge or practical experience of hydraulic systems.
Experience developing or using automated test control systems.
Experience with LabVIEW or similar test and data acquisition software.
Experience working within clean, controlled or safety-critical test environments.
Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S and structured problem-solving methodologies.Health & Safety Requirements

Due to the safety-critical nature of this position, any offer of employment will be conditional upon the successful completion of a relevant occupational health assessment.

The assessment will be arranged following a conditional offer and is intended to confirm that the successful candidate is fit to work safely within a high-risk engineering environment, including exposure to high-voltage testing.

All assessments will be conducted in accordance with applicable health and safety legislation and the Company's internal requirements.

    What We Offer

This role provides an opportunity to work on electrical equipment and high-voltage testing, while contributing to the development of modern test technologies and processes.

You will have the opportunity to:

Work with high-voltage, high-power electrical systems.
Develop your expertise in electrical testing and instrumentation.
Contribute to automated test and data acquisition technologies.
Work alongside experienced multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Drive improvements in testing, quality, safety and efficiency.
