Prospero Teaching is recruiting a SEN Teacher in Leyton, Waltham Forest, to teach pupils with learning and communication needs. You will plan a structured, accessible curriculum that connects classroom learning with communication and everyday independence. The role requires thoughtful assessment, consistent routines and a practical approach to adapting teaching for individual pupils.
Your responsibilities
Plan lessons around pupils' learning profiles and agreed EHCP outcomes.
Adapt literacy, numeracy and practical activities to suit different starting points.
Use visual and alternative communication approaches where appropriate.
Guide teaching assistants and evaluate which support helps pupils work independently.
Track progress and contribute to reviews with families and relevant professionals.
What you will need
QTS and experience teaching pupils with SEND or substantially adapting a mainstream curriculum.
Confidence assessing progress beyond age-related expectations alone.
Strong classroom organisation and a positive, consistent approach to behaviour.Experience of autism, severe learning difficulties or communication-focused teaching is desirable. Please outline the needs and age groups you have taught.
