How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded technical team, providing specialist safety case expertise across major programmes and helping to ensure the safe design, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities.

    The Opportunity

    We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Case Consultant to support the delivery of safety case activities across a diverse portfolio of nuclear projects.

    Working within multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will develop robust nuclear safety cases, undertake technical safety assessments and provide specialist advice throughout the project lifecycle. You will also support junior consultants and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety case standards and methodologies.

    Flexible hybrid working is available, with the role based from Warrington, Leicester or Bristol.

    Key Responsibilities

    You will develop and deliver nuclear safety case documentation across all phases of the project lifecycle, including PSRs, PCSRs, technical reports, safety justifications and supporting engineering substantiation.

    You will contribute to hazard identification and risk assessment activities, including HAZID and HAZOP studies, Hazard Management Strategies, radiological safety assessments, dose assessments, risk assessments and ALARP demonstrations.

    The role will involve providing technical guidance on nuclear safety principles, working closely with engineering, radiological protection and project teams, and helping to ensure safety case deliverables meet programme, budget, quality and regulatory requirements.

    You will manage assigned safety case work packages, monitor progress, identify technical and programme risks and support the successful delivery of multidisciplinary projects.

    You will also mentor junior Safety Case Consultants, review technical work, share knowledge and contribute to the continued development of technical capability across the wider team.

    Essential Requirements

    * Proven experience developing and delivering nuclear safety cases within regulated environments.

    * Strong understanding of nuclear safety case processes, methodologies and governance.

    * Good knowledge of ALARP and the ONR Safety Assessment Principles.

    * Experience supporting hazard identification, risk assessment and engineering substantiation.

    * Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.

    * Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

    * Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects.

    * Experience supporting or mentoring junior engineers or consultants.

    Desirable Experience

    Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

    * Radiological safety assessments

    * Hazard management and risk assessment

    * Nuclear operations or decommissioning

    * Engineering substantiation

    * Human Factors

    * Criticality safety

    * Shielding and dose assessment

    * Environmental safety assessments

    * Regulatory engagement with the ONR or other nuclear regulators

    Qualifications

    * Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Physics or another relevant scientific discipline.

    * Chartered Engineer or Chartered Scientist status is desirable, or actively working towards professional registration with a recognised institution.

    Security Requirements

    Due to the nature of the role, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Check (SC) clearance.

    What's on Offer

    * Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

    * Flexible hybrid working arrangements.

    * Opportunity to contribute to nationally significant nuclear programmes.

    * Structured career development and clear progression opportunities.

    * Payment of professional membership fees and support towards professional registration.

    * Generous annual leave, matched pension contributions and life assurance.

    * Digital GP services, annual health checks and wellbeing support.
