How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.

  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    5 Axis CNC Mill Turn Programmer

    Location: Kegworth / Derby, DE74 2FL
    Commutable from: Derby, Nottingham, Loughborough, Long Eaton, Castle Donington and surrounding areas
    Salary: £40,000-£42,000 per annum
    Hours: Full-time, permanent - flexible shift options, with either days or double days available

    The Opportunity

    An established engineering company is looking for an experienced 5 Axis CNC Mill Turn Programmer to join its manufacturing team in Kegworth.

    This is a hands-on position for an experienced CNC engineer who is confident programming, setting and operating 5-axis Mill Turn machinery. You'll be involved throughout the machining process, from programming and setting through to proving out, inspection and continuous improvement.

    The company can offer flexibility around shifts, with either a day shift or double-day shift available depending on preference.

    The Role

    As a 5 Axis CNC Mill Turn Programmer, your responsibilities will include:

    Setting, operating, editing and programming 5-axis CNC Mill Turn machines, including Mori Seiki / Puma MX.
    Programming using CAD/CAM software including Alphacam/Kreo, alongside Fanuc controls.
    Setting tooling, offsets and workholding.
    Proving out new programmes and ensuring components are manufactured to specification.
    Optimising toolpaths, machining methods and cycle times.
    Carrying out component inspection using micrometers, verniers/callipers and CMM equipment.
    Reading and working from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
    Working closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams on machining and process improvements.
    Providing input on manufacturability, DFM and machining methods.
    Maintaining high standards of quality throughout the machining process.

    About You

    Previous hands-on experience programming, setting and operating CNC Mill Turn machinery.
    Experience working with 5-axis CNC machines.
    Experience with Mori Seiki / Puma MX machinery would be advantageous.
    Confident using Fanuc controls.
    Experience using CAD/CAM software, ideally Alphacam/Kreo.
    Able to set tooling, offsets and workholding and prove out new programmes.
    Confident inspecting machined components using micrometers, verniers/callipers and CMM equipment.
    Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
    Good understanding of machining methods, tooling and cycle-time optimisation.
    Ideally apprentice-trained or qualified within a relevant engineering discipline.
    Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.

    Benefits
