How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    IT Technician - Short-Term Sickness Cover

    Location: Greenwich, South East London
    Start Date: ASAP
    Contract: Short-term contract - sickness cover

    TimePlan Education are currently working with a secondary school in Greenwich who are looking to appoint an experienced IT Technician to join their team as soon as possible on a short-term contract to cover a period of sickness absence.

    The successful candidate must have previous experience working in a similar IT Technician or technical support role and will be confident providing day-to-day technical support to staff and students.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional who is available immediately and would be interested in supporting a secondary school for a short-term period.

    The Role

    As an IT Technician, you will play an important role in ensuring the school's IT systems, equipment and technology are running effectively throughout the period of sickness cover.

    Your responsibilities may include:

    Providing day-to-day IT support to staff and students
    Troubleshooting hardware, software and network issues
    Setting up, maintaining and repairing computers, laptops and other IT equipment
    Supporting classroom technology, including interactive whiteboards and projectors
    Diagnosing and resolving technical issues promptly
    Installing and updating software and applications
    Supporting staff with technical queries
    Maintaining IT equipment and ensuring systems are working effectively
    Assisting with the smooth running of the school's IT infrastructure
    Working alongside the existing IT team to provide a reliable technical support serviceThe Ideal Candidate

    The school is looking for an IT Technician who:

    Has previous experience in a similar IT Technician or technical support role
    Has strong knowledge of IT hardware, software and troubleshooting
    Is confident supporting both staff and students
    Has excellent problem-solving skills
    Is reliable, organised and proactive
    Can work calmly and efficiently when resolving technical issues
    Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
    Can work independently as well as part of a wider team
    Previous experience working within a school or education setting is highly desirableExperience in a similar IT support or technician position is essential for this role.
