How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant - Chesham
    Location: Chesham
    Contract: Full-time / Term-time only (8:30am-4:00pm)
    Pay Rate: £125 per day
    Start Date: After the October half term.

    About the Role
    Academics are seeking a committed and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join an alternative provision in Chesham. You will be supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, challenging behaviours, and barriers to learning.

    This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping vulnerable learners re-engage with education and develop the skills they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural, social, and emotional needs.
    Use de-escalation and behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour.
    Work closely with teachers and senior staff to maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
    Help pupils develop communication skills, resilience, self-regulation, and positive relationships.
    Contribute to behaviour plans, reviews, and progress updates as part of a wider support team.The Ideal Candidate

    Experience in youth work, mainstream secondary schools, residential care, or working with challenging behaviours.
    Understanding of holistic approaches to behaviour support (desirable but not essential).
    Calm, patient, and empathetic nature with the ability to build positive relationships.
    Confident in managing behaviour and using de-escalation techniques effectively.
    Passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers and fulfil their potential.
