The Role
As the Toddlers Room Leader, you will balance creative, practical Early Years work with overall room leadership. You’ll enable children at this crucial age to develop communication, independence and social skills while ensuring a nurturing and safe environment.
Take responsibility for the daily organisation of the Toddlers Room
Lead, motivate and support your room team
Maintain appropriate staffing ratios and a welcoming, stimulating setting
Plan and deliver engaging activities based on children’s interests and stages of development
Support language, social, physical and emotional development
Complete regular observations and assessments to track progress and inform next steps
Develop strong, positive relationships with children and their families
Communicate children’s progress and daily experiences to parents or carers
Champion safeguarding, health and safety standards at all times
Skills and Experience
Level 3 Early Years qualification – essential
Previous Room Leader experience – essential
Significant experience in a nursery or Early Years environment
Strong up-to-date knowledge of the EYFS
Paediatric First Aid qualification
Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification, or willingness to obtain it
Confident team leadership and people skills
Excellent understanding of child development and safeguarding
Ability to create fun, purposeful and age-appropriate activities
Outstanding organisation and proactive approach
Clear communication skills with both children and adults
Genuine enthusiasm for nurturing young children’s development through play
