How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Estimator - Heathrow
    Long-Term Contract
    £400 to £600 Day Rate

    About the Role
    We're looking for an Estimator to join an internationally recognised civil engineering and construction contractor, known for delivering major transportation infrastructure including tunnels, roads, highways and high-speed rail. You'll prepare and manage accurate estimates for major infrastructure projects, supporting business objectives and building strong relationships with the supply chain.

    You'll take ownership of cost estimates from tender review through to handover, working closely with tender planners, subcontractors and project teams to produce high-quality, competitive submissions on time.

    Key Responsibilities

    Prepare, manage and supervise cost estimates in support of project and business objectives
    Review tender documents and drawings
    Produce detailed cost risk analysis and work breakdown analysis, and maintain risks and opportunities registers
    Procure quotes for materials and subcontract packages, and prepare quotation comparisons
    Estimate prime costs using estimating software (Candy preferred)
    Agree methodology and sequencing with the tender planner
    Prepare tender settlement reports and submission documents, and contribute to mid- and post-tender meetings
    Hand over secured tenders to the project team
    Keep rates and supplier databases up to dateKey Requirements

    Previous estimating experience on large-scale projects, particularly roads, tunnels, motorways and structures
    Proficient in Candy estimating software
    Extensive experience liaising with the supply chain
    Understanding of contractual risks in NEC and other infrastructure contracts
    Self-motivated, proactive team player who can meet tender deadlines
    Desirable: strong written and verbal presentation skills
