Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will lead and develop a large, multi-functional team, ensuring resources are used effectively, production plans are achieved and high standards of safety, quality and productivity are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day production operations, ensuring delivery, quality, cost and output targets are consistently achieved.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on productivity, resource utilisation, labour efficiency and waste reduction.
Oversee short- and medium-term production planning, while supporting the implementation of longer-term operational plans.
Manage departmental budgets and maintain financial control across products and projects.
Lead, motivate and develop a large production team, setting clear objectives and maintaining high standards of performance.
Work closely with internal departments, including Quality, HR, Finance and Commercial, to ensure effective coordination and delivery.
Monitor team competencies, identify training requirements and support individual development plans to build a flexible and capable workforce.
Maintain effective communication with internal and external customers, resolving operational issues efficiently.
Ensure accurate production reporting, operational records and maintenance information are maintained.
Take responsibility for health, safety and environmental standards, including workplace housekeeping and incident investigations where required.
Ensure equipment and materials are used efficiently, minimising waste and maximising operational effectiveness.
Support senior operational leadership when required.
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong engineering background and proven experience managing production operations and large, multi-functional teams. You will be a confident leader who can balance day-to-day operational demands with longer-term improvement initiatives.
You will also bring:
Experience managing production teams within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate teams and improve performance.
Experience in production planning, resource management and continuous improvement.
Financial awareness, including experience managing budgets and profit and loss.
The ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and external customers.
A strong understanding of health, safety and environmental responsibilities.
Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
A Level 4/5 Certificate in Leadership and Management and an HNC or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.What's on Offer?
