How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for flexible agency work in St Albans?

    We are currently recruiting reliable, patient and committed SEN Teaching Assistants to support schools in St Albans and the surrounding areas on an ad hoc basis.

    This is an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking flexible work, whether you are looking to pick up additional days, work around existing commitments or gain experience across different educational settings.

    Assignments will be offered according to school requirements and your availability, with opportunities to provide day-to-day cover when support is needed.

    The Role
    As an agency SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access learning and feel safe, supported and included throughout the school day.

    Your responsibilities may include:

    Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
    Assisting teachers with classroom activities and learning objectives.

    Adapting your approach to meet individual pupil needs.
    Working collaboratively with teachers and other school staff.

    What We Are Looking For
    The ideal candidate will have:

    Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND - essential.
    A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    Confidence supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
    A reliable and professional attitude.
    The flexibility to accept ad hoc assignments when available.
    The ability to travel to schools in St Albans and surrounding areas.
    Candidates with experience supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, sensory needs or complex learning needs are encouraged to apply.
