How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

With an annual turnover surpassing £650 million, Mott MacDonald Bentley cements its position as a leader within the industry. The sustained, robust business performance creates an ideal environment for career growth.

We're looking for a Tax and Compliance Manager to join our Finance team, based at our Skipton Head Office on a part-time basis consisting of 30 hours per week across four or five days. We support agile working, with an expectation of a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with the Group Tax function of our parent company, you'll take responsibility for key tax reporting and compliance activities while helping strengthen controls, improve processes and support wider tax awareness across the organisation.

As a Tax and Compliance Manager, you will:

Prepare and submit the annual Corporation Tax return for the Group.
Prepare quarterly corporation tax provisions and the Group Payment Arrangement estimate.
Support internal stakeholders and external advisers with the preparation of the annual RDEC claim.
Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns for the VAT Group.
Prepare and submit the CIS return and PAYE settlement agreement.
Manage and enhance the controls that support accurate and compliant tax reporting.
Act as the point of contact for tax queries from HMRC, internal stakeholders and auditors.
Promote training and awareness of tax issues throughout the wider organisation.
Provide tax planning advice to the organisation when required.
Embed new tax technology and promote increased digitisation to support efficient and accurate tax reporting and data compilation.
Undertake internal tax assurance reviews and continuously review tax legislation to identify relevant changes.
Complete ad hoc compliance tasks, which may include National Living Wage, GDPR and general internal audit responsibilities.

    What you'll need

Proven experience working in a similar tax and compliance role.
A relevant Finance or Tax qualification, such as ACCA, ACA or CTA.
Confidence working with ERP systems, databases and large sets of data.
The ability to work accurately and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
An interest in a varied role combining regular reporting with ad hoc project work.
Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, can-do approach, with the confidence to identify improvement opportunities and drive change.
Experience in the construction sector would be advantageous but is not a prerequisite.

    What's in it for you:

Alongside our significant training and development investment, we offer hybrid working and a wide range of financial, lifestyle, health and wellbeing benefits that you can tailor to your needs.
