How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

If so, this could be the perfect role for you.Our client, a well-established engineering and manufacturing business specialising in bespoke mechanical products and automation solutions, is seeking a Technical Compliance Officer to join their design team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring new and existing products meet relevant safety regulations, engineering standards, and statutory requirements before moving into manufacture. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a mechanical design background who has a keen eye for detail and a passion for quality and compliance.

    Technical Compliance Officer (Mechanical Design)
    Job Description
    • Review mechanical design concepts, 3D CAD models, and 2D engineering drawings to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
    • Ensure products and mechanical assemblies meet applicable UK and international safety requirements, including machinery safety regulations and UKCA/CE marking
    • Lead design risk assessments, including DFMEA and HAZOP activities, to identify and address potential safety and functional issues
    • Compile and maintain technical files, including structural calculations, material certifications, and user documentation
    • Prepare Declarations of Conformity and Declarations of Incorporation for relevant mechanical products and assemblies
    • Audit engineering drawings, design documentation, engineering change notes, and document control processes
    • Monitor changes to relevant engineering standards and advise design teams on compliance requirements
    • Liaise with external test houses, inspectors, and certification bodies to support product testing and validation
    • Identify compliance gaps and implement improvements to engineering processes and product approval procedures

    Technical Compliance Officer (Mechanical Design)
    Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications
    • Degree, HNC, or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related technical discipline
    • Minimum 3–5 years' experience within a mechanical design or product development environment
    • Experience reviewing mechanical designs, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
    • Understanding of UKCA/CE marking, machinery safety regulations, and engineering compliance requirements
    • Experience compiling technical files, interpreting standards, and resolving non-conformances
    • Knowledge of risk assessment methods, ideally including DFMEA and HAZOP
    • Strong attention to detail, particularly around technical documentation, drawing standards, and revision control
    • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to challenge designs constructively and work closely with engineering teams
    • Experience with 3D CAD software would be advantageous

    Desirable Experience
    • Formal training or qualifications in CE/UKCA marking and regulatory compliance
    • Knowledge of ISO 12100, EN (phone number removed), ISO 9001, and relevant engineering drawing standards
    • Experience working with external testing laboratories, third-party inspectors, or certification bodies
