The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join a Tier 1 M&E contractor on a major educational development in Norwich.
The project involves a substantial £34 million M&E package and is scheduled to run through to late 2028, offering long-term stability and the opportunity to work on a significant construction scheme.
The contractor's preference is to recruit on a permanent basis, with a salary of up to £75,000 per annum depending on experience. However, experienced freelance candidates will also be considered, with day rates negotiable.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee all mechanical building services installations throughout the construction programme.
Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, site teams and specialist suppliers to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.
Work closely with the wider project team, including electrical managers, construction managers, consultants and the main contractor.
Monitor site progress, identify potential issues and implement solutions to maintain project deadlines.
Ensure all mechanical installations comply with design specifications, relevant regulations and project requirements.
Review technical drawings, resolve design and coordination issues, and manage the installation process from start to completion.
Oversee quality assurance, inspections, testing and commissioning activities.
Manage health and safety compliance across all mechanical works.
Attend progress meetings and provide regular updates on programme, labour, procurement and installation status.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager or Mechanical Site Manager on large-scale construction projects.
Strong background in mechanical building services installation within the M&E sector.
Experience working for an M&E contractor on major commercial, educational or similarly complex developments.
Demonstrable experience managing subcontractors, site teams and mechanical packages.
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services, installation sequencing and construction coordination.
Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
Relevant mechanical qualifications and site management certifications.
