How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Site Manager
    Plymouth
    Construction
An established and highly regarded main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Site Manager to play a key role in delivering complex, medium to large-scale construction projects across Plymouth and the surrounding area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional with a strong track record of managing significant projects, leading site teams and coordinating multiple subcontractors. The business delivers schemes across a diverse range of sectors, including education, industrial, leisure, healthcare and commercial, offering the opportunity to work on varied and technically challenging projects.

Working closely with the wider project and operations teams, you will take a leading role in managing site operations, driving programme performance and maintaining high standards of health and safety, quality and commercial delivery from pre-construction through to completion and handover.

    The Role

Take responsibility for the successful delivery of site operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, to programme and to the required quality standards.
Lead, manage and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, consultants and key stakeholders, fostering a collaborative, one-team approach.
Work closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team to develop and implement project strategies and construction programmes.
Monitor progress against programme targets, identifying potential delays and implementing corrective measures where required.
Maintain high standards of health and safety, environmental compliance and quality assurance throughout the construction process.
Work collaboratively with the commercial team to monitor project costs, manage variations and identify opportunities to improve commercial performance.
Manage site logistics, temporary works, labour resources and subcontractor sequencing to ensure efficient project delivery.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
Identify and manage project risks, resolving technical and operational challenges as they arise.
Drive best practice and continuous improvement across site operations.
Oversee commissioning, project completion and handover, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements.
    About You
The successful candidate will have a proven track record as a Senior Site Manager or an experienced Site Manager ready to take the next step, with experience delivering medium to large-scale construction projects.

You will be a confident and proactive leader, capable of managing complex site operations, coordinating multiple work packages and maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and programme delivery.

Key skills and experience will include:

Proven experience managing site operations on medium to large-scale multimillion pound construction projects.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate site teams and manage subcontractors effectively.
Excellent technical knowledge, including the ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and programmes.
A thorough understanding of health and safety, quality assurance and environmental requirements.
Good commercial awareness, including project scope, variations and cost control.
Experience managing site logistics, temporary works and resource planning.
Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and relevant construction management systems.
Valid SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid at Work certifications.
A relevant construction qualification and MCIOB membership would be advantageous, alongside a full UK driving licence.
    What's on Offer?

The opportunity to join a well-established and highly regarded main contractor.
Involvement in significant construction projects across a variety of sectors.
A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
Genuine opportunities for career development and progression.
The chance to play a key role in the successful delivery of a strong pipeline of work across Plymouth and the surrounding area.
