How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Purchasing Admin | FULL TIME | WIGAN | £29,000–£34,000 | MONDAY TO FRIDAY  (7:30-15:30 or 8:00-16:00)

    We are currently recruiting for a Purchasing Assistant to join a well-established, market-leading manufacturing business based in Wigan.

    The ideal candidate will have previous purchasing or procurement administration experience, strong communication and organisational skills, and be confident using systems such as SAP, Sage and Microsoft Excel.

    Key Responsibilities

    Assist with the day-to-day purchasing and procurement activities of the business.
    Raise and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
    Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, check pricing and confirm delivery dates.
    Monitor outstanding orders and follow up on delayed deliveries to ensure materials arrive on time.
    Maintain accurate purchasing records and update supplier and order information across internal systems.
    Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
    Work closely with Sales, Accounts, Logistics and other teams to ensure purchasing requirements are met.
    Resolve supplier queries, discrepancies and invoice or delivery issues.
    Support stock monitoring and ensure purchasing requirements are communicated effectively.
    Assist with cost control and identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes.
    Ensure all purchasing documentation is accurate and filed appropriately.
    Provide general administrative support to the purchasing team as required.

    Skills & Experience

    Previous experience in a Purchasing Assistant, Procurement Administrator or similar role.
    Experience working within a manufacturing or fast-paced business environment would be advantageous.
    Good working knowledge of purchasing systems such as SAP, Sage or similar.
    Confident using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
    Strong organisational and time-management skills.
    Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    Strong communication and negotiation skills.
    Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
    A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
    Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
