We are currently recruiting for a Management Accountant / Data Analyst to join a growing and successful business. This is a fantastic opportunity for an analytical and commercially minded individual who enjoys working with financial data, identifying trends and providing valuable insights to support business decisions.
The successful candidate will play a key role in management reporting, cost accounting, financial analysis and driving improvements across the finance function.
The Role
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, variances and opportunities for improvement.
- Take responsibility for cost accounting, including standard costing, cost allocation and variance analysis.
- Monitor and analyse material, labour and overhead costs, providing insight into financial performance.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
- Produce detailed financial reports, dashboards and KPI analysis to support business decisions.
- Investigate cost variances, identifying key drivers and recommending improvements.
- Work closely with operational teams to understand business performance and provide financial insight.
- Analyse profitability, margins and pricing to support commercial decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data accuracy and financial controls.
- Support the development of reporting tools and systems to improve efficiency and data visibility.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Previous experience in a Management Accountant, Cost Accountant, Finance Analyst or similar role.
- Actively studying ACCA or CIMA
- Good understanding of management accounts, cost accounting and variance analysis.
- Essential: Working knowledge and understand of Power BI - Doesn't need to be an expert but some working experience and understanding of Power BI.
- Good Excel skills, with the ability to manipulate and interpret large datasets.
- Experience with standard costing, inventory analysis and overhead allocation desirable.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive and problem-solving approach.
- Confident communicator, comfortable working with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
