How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    People Officer
    Location: Seaham
    Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
    Duration: 12 weeks minimum
    Start: As soon as possible

    Are you an experienced HR professional looking for a varied generalist role where you can make a real impact?

    We are recruiting for a People Officer to join a friendly, supportive and forward-thinking organisation based in Seaham.
    Working as part of the People team and alongside the Head of People, you will provide a proactive and professional HR service across the organisation. This is a varied, hands-on position that would suit someone who enjoys building relationships, supporting managers and getting involved across the full employee life cycle.

    The role

    As People Officer, you will:

    Provide advice and support to managers and senior leaders on a range of HR matters
    Support recruitment and selection activity from start to finish
    Process contractual changes and maintain accurate employee records
    Provide guidance around HR policies, procedures, pay and conditions
    Coordinate payroll information with a third-party payroll provider
    Support employee meetings, including taking notes where required
    Help promote employee benefits and support employee queries
    Maintain accurate HR data and utilise HR systems effectively
    Support the implementation and continuous improvement of new People systems and processesAbout you

    We are looking for someone with:

    Previous generalist HR/People experience
    Experience managing or coordinating recruitment processes
    A good working knowledge of HR policies, procedures and processes
    Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
    Excellent attention to detail and confidence working with systems and data
    Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to work with employees and senior stakeholders
    A flexible, hands-on approach and willingness to support across the wider People function
    CIPD Level 3 or relevant equivalent experienceThis is a fantastic opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys variety and wants to join a collaborative and supportive People team where they can genuinely contribute to the development of the HR service.
